Non-Exec Services

Support for Boards to Enable Growth

With over 20 years’ experience working with boards as a non-exec director and non-exec chair we hugely enjoy supporting leadership and senior teams to enable individual and operational growth.

Having worked across a wide range of sectors and markets including consumer (FMCG), sport, not-for-profit (NFP), food, digital, pet, media, retail, financial services, healthcare, marketing services, PR, private equity, corporate finance, education, medical devices and product recall, we are agnostic to the type of organisation we work with. The focus is always upon the customer/consumer and what is right for them. Our USP is therefore the ability to bring a kaleidoscope of experiences to enable growth and positive progress towards an agreed set of goals.

As non-execs we have extensive expertise in strategic and financial planning, board facilitation, independent challenge, board process management and team psychometrics. This is enabled through a professional ability to mentor individuals and teams.

More generally as non-executive directors, we look to make a creative contribution to the board by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the executive directors.

We look to focus on board matters and not stray into ‘executive direction’, thus providing an independent view of the company that is removed from the day-to-day running. We aim to bring the following to the boards we work with:

  • independence

  • impartiality

  • broad experience

  • specialist knowledge

  • personal qualities

The 1992 Cadbury Report initiated a debate about the main functions and responsibilities of non-executive directors. Today, it is widely accepted that non-executive directors have an important contribution to make to the proper running of companies, and therefore more widely to the economy at large. As the Cadbury Report said, they “should bring an independent judgement to bear on issues of strategy, performance and resources including key appointments and standards of conduct”.
